Through a trying year, we kept working to improve oral care.
As the world shut down for a time to combat COVID-19, we shifted our office to remote and began delivering educational tools for dentistry. We launched Elevating Care ™ with FREE continuing education courses from experts across dentistry. You can still view this great content by clicking the link above and receive AGD PACE Credit after completing a brief quiz afterwards.
We’re pleased to launch the Advantage Arrest® Silver Diamine Fluroride 38% Three 3 mL Bottle Kit in December 2020. In a world where asepsis is critical, sharing a bottle of any medication between operatories is difficult. You asked and we listened by launching smaller bottles of Advantage Arrest Silver Diamine Fluoride 38% in an multi-operatory pack. Ask your Preventive Care Consultant about it today!
D1355 is the newest code for the use of Silver Diamine Fluoride. You may know its use in preventing dentinal hypersensitivity and arresting lesions, however, it also has use preventing lesions from ever happening. This new CDT code addresses that with a way to properly document its use. The nomenclature reads, “For primary prevention or remineralization. Medicaments applied do not include topical fluoride.” This sets apart SDF peventive use from other products like fluoride foams, gels and varnishes due to the different ways it works. The ADA has even released a guidance document on how to use this new code. LINKED HERE
Additionally, the ADA released their Evidence-based Clinical Practice Guideline on Nonrestorative Treatments for Carious Lesions. Silver Diamine Fluoride was recommended in many situations, and should always be presented as an option for patients. They also released chairside guides for your use with patients. The publication can be seen here with all supporting materials.
We also took time to create tools to help deliver the best preventive dentistry possible. We have tools such as posters, laminates and brochures that provide tips on how to deliver patient centered communication, and information on teledentistry. We also remain committed to the Caries Management by Risk Assessment (CAMBRA) philosophy and have materials to help you communicate this with patients. See our Downloads page for more helpful materials.
